Grasmoor 5k 2012

Well it was nice to blow away the cobwebs by doing a race today.  It's a long time since I have done any proper road running and a nice quick 5 (and a bit) k race was the perfect reminder that racing can be fun.  The Grasmoor 5k is put on by the Cumberland Fell Runners who seem to be quite serious and fast runners but still friendly at the same time.

Pre-race tactical discussion - "I think we're running that way, what do you think?"
"I don't know, let's just follow everyone else"

Not a big turnout

and we're off!

Taking it seriously as usual

Here's the nerdy bits: Averaging 6.56 per mile which I'm very happy with.  The overall distance equates to 5.6k so my time at 5k was roughly 21.55 which is about a minute slower than my fastest ever 5k (which was on a harder course) but then I had further distance to cover and I'm out of practice at the moment.  I'm more than satisfied with averaging under 7 minutes per mile.

The splits show that the third mile was the fastest, I think there was more downhill in this mile than at other places on the course.
