Learning to Fell Run

In September last year I treated myself to a fell running course with Chris and Graham of Mountain Running. It was a two day course which covered all the basics of kit selection, route selection, safety, map reading, technique etc.  Chris and Graham were very friendly and knowledgeable and it was a great introduction to fell running and has given me the confidence to go out on my own.  I would highly recommend this course for anybody wanting to start fell running.

Included in the course were two guided fell runs.  The first was a run over Cat Bells and then around the end of Derwent Water and up over Walla Crag.  Route is below:

On the second day, the route selected was from Crummock Water up Whiteside then along to cross over at Hopegill Head and over to Grasmoor, followed by my favourite part of the run, a big long scree run down the side of Grasmoor.
